Dholera Solar Park is solar power project being developed in two phases in Dholera villa, approximately 80km from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.

Gujarat Urja Nigam Limited (GUVN) has been developing the project through public-private partnership (PPP).

The company is working with Gujarat Power Corporation (GPCL), Gujarat Electric Transmission Corporation (GETCO), Solar Energy Corporation (SECI) and Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) for the implementation of the project.

GPCL is investing Rs5bn ($695m) in the first 1GW phase, and SECI is anticipated to contribute Rs20bn ($2.7bn) in the second 4GW phase.

The The State Government has given its acceptanceto the most promising project which will be located on 11,000 hectares of land along the Gulf of Khambhat in the DSIR. 

solar park is a part of the government’s plan for establishing India’s first world-class greenfield Dholera smart city project announced in 2009. It also supports the government’s aim to produce 175GW of clean energy by 2022.

Dholera Solar Park Details

Dholera Solar Park is going to be one of the largest solar park globally, with a planned capacity 5000 MW.

The park is designed to gather the sunlight efficiently and make into the clean, sustainable energy that powers thousands of homes and businesses.

Dholera solar park location

The land is located in Gulf of Khambhat region in Dholera Special Investment Region and is a CRZ type 1(B) land.

It is well-connected by road, rail, airport and seaport and lies close to the megacities of Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar and Vadodara.

The site has a high coastal vulnerability index as it is situated in a low-lying area at the delta of five rivers, Padaliyo, Lilka, Utavali, Sukhbhadar and Ker. It is an inter-tidal and highly eroding area with corrosive air.
